I’m Just Trying My Best and My Best is OK

“It’s just a phase.”

But how long does it last?

“You should just spend one-on-one time with him.”

But he’s already literally glued to me.

“You’re not giving him the attention he had before.”

I don’t know how much more attention I can give him.

No one prepared me for this. Not sure anyone could have. My heart hurts. My ears hurt. The crying. Tantrums. Tears. SO. MANY. TEARS.

Ever since we brought home my daughter, my son has had a love/hate relationship with her. Hugs and kisses all day long for little sister. Screams and tears and grunts for mom and dad. It’s exhausting and heartbreaking. I miss my happy little boy. I miss the constant smiles and laughs.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a post about what we’ve done that has helped. This is quite the opposite. We’ve done our best to give him the attention he needs. Craves. We’re doing our best to wade through these crazy waters and get through this.

What I’m trying to say is – we’re trying. And if you’re going through this too, I’m here to tell you sometimes that’s all you can do is just try and try your best to get through it.

Here is where the cheesy phrase “It takes a village” comes into play. And it’s true. We’ve been utilizing my parents and in-laws. Extra hands to take him out and play. Adding a few more days of KDO (kid’s day out) where he is thriving, learning, and keeping busy. And you already know my love of Lifetime – a different environment to explore.

I don’t have all the answers. You may not either, and that is OK. Lean on family and friends. Tell your little you love them, and hang in there.
