Winterfest in the Lou: We Igloo’d and You Should Too

0

Nestled in downtown St. Louis near N. 6th Street and Chestnut is a little bit of winter treasure you’ve got to add to your list of adult things to do. Winterfest weekends are happening now through January 26. The festivities include ice skating, a winter market and best of all, in my opinion, the igloo village.

Rule One: What’s shared in the igloo, stays in the igloo!

Rule Two: Eat, drink and be oh so merry!

St. Louis Moms Blog took an igloo for a test drive at the end of December. “Ooooh, they’re faaancy!” a young girl beamed from the sidewalk as she passed us by. We all giggled at her comment. Nothing to see … just a group of mamas chillin’ in an igloo enjoying drinks, good food and juicy conversation!

Best described as outdoor luxe, the igloo was equipped with heat, comfy seating and attendants who made sure our table was full and our cups never empty. “More wine!” was the echo of the evening. We noshed on BBQ nachos, meat and cheese boards, veggies and a selection of dips. There was a full drink menu available for the choosing.

The view was amazing! From our comfy spot under the dome ceiling, we could see a clear view of the Gateway Arch, skyline and the surrounding liveliness of Kiener Plaza. We sat warm and cozy inside, watching passerby’s and chatting about this and that. It was the perfect unwind and holiday detox for us. These igloos put us in the middle of everything and yet made us feel so like we’d managed to get far away from it all.

Rule Three: Snap away!

The backdrop there offered some unique winter photo ops. Being in the igloo was like being in a decked-out tent – With holiday lights aglow and carpeting beneath our feet. It was the get together we’d all love to have, but no one wants to clean up after. No fuss, no muss with this excursion!

The staff was courteous, attentive and just plain fun! Up to six Winterfest ice skating rentals are included with the igloo rental as well as a $50 credit for food and drink from Sugarfire Smoke House.

Get waited on, feel a little fancy. Maybe wear a fur vest. Spend some time in the middle of it all while getting away from it all. Plan a date night or a girl’s night. Grab a few friends and enjoy a group date. Treat someone to an extraordinary birthday experience. There are so many ways to enjoy this place, but there’s no wrong way to do it.

Enjoy! We definitely did.
