The Gateway Arch

Griot Black History Museum

The Griot Museum aims to gather, preserve, and share the stories, culture, and history of Black people, especially those with a connection to American History. They do this through the use of life-size wax figures, art, and artifacts to interpret the stories of African Americans. Their program contains an authentic slave cabin. They also offer puzzles, documentaries, and a model of part of a ship that replicates those used to transport Africans to America during the Slave Trade.

As you enter Pottery Hollow, you are inspired by the kid-friendly decor created to inspire whimsy and imagination. For the little ones, the Butterfly House offers Caterpillar Corner, and the Exploration Station play areas. Finally, in the theater, enjoy watching The Butterfly Effect and learn more about these gorgeous creatures.

Candle Opera

Masks are recommended for the unvaccinated.

At Candle Opera, you can create custom scented candles with your kids.  The first step is selecting a container, of which they have a wide assortment of sizes and colors to choose from.  Second, you select your favorite scents.  Finally, mix the scented oils together and swirl the oil into hot wax.  It will take about 2 hours for your candle to set, and you can use some of that time to browse their extensive shop or come back to pick it up at a later date.

At the Challenger Learning Center, you will begin as a group with a briefing on the current mission.  Then you will split up for two different interactive displays. One will learn in a mission control room used to monitor the space station crew and make decisions about the mission.  The other will get to experience a space station where specialists communicate with Mission Control, navigate, do experiments, and help the crew. You will be able to “travel” to space in a unique space transporter.
