Have you checked out the Bevo Mill / South Hampton neighborhoods in STL?

a Living in the Lou a neighborhood series banner for Bevo Mill / South Hampton neighborhoods

We moved to the Bevo-South Hampton area 16 years ago. This neighborhood feels like it’s close to everything fun. Not to mention, it’s an extremely diverse area.

Christy Park is a small park for mostly younger kids, but also boasts a workout “playground” for older kids and adults.

We are also close to:

Carondelet Park

Tower Grove Park

Francis Park

Lindenwood Park

Willmore Park

and about a 10-minute drive to Forest Park.

Bevo and South Hampton not only have plenty of festivals— Bosnian Festival, Oktoberfest at Das Bevo, Das Bevo Holiday Market, Macklind Days, and Cinco de Mayo, to name a few— but we are also close to other neighborhoods in South City, Central West End, The Grove, Tower Grove, Forest Park, and Maplewood and able to take full advantage of the fun events in these areas, too!

Das Bevo, located on Gravois, is the gem of the Bevo Neighborhood. With a historic bier hall, an underground performance area, a menu that will make your mouth water, an awesome brunch with bottomless mimosas, and a selection of beverages for you and the family, you’d think, “what more could you need?!” How about a Biergarten with a picnic area that includes firepits for cooler days, a large stage for local artists and performers, lots of fun art sculptures, a retro firetruck, and other photo ops. You will not be disappointed!

Macklind has Russell’s on Macklind (and their delightful chocolate chip gooey butter cake), Sisters Sandwich Shoppe, and Espresso Yourself that give you not only all the deliciousness that their kitchens have to offer, but serious cozy vibes as well.

I mean, seriously, these neighborhoods (and South City St. Louis in general) are a serious foodie lover’s paradise.

And I dare not forget to mention Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Creamery. OH. MY. GOODNESS.! This ice cream is to die for! They have family-friendly flavors like Gooey Butter Cake and Italian Butter Cookie, and then they have a “naughty” menu list that has flavors infused with alcohol, like Fireball Whiskey.

These neighborhoods have so many other things to offer, there’s just not enough space or time to put them all here. But hey, come check them out yourself. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
