Lifetime Fitness :: Kid-Friendly Mom Getaway!

0

Lifetime Fitness has two locations in the St. Louis area!

Honestly, there is nothing better than being able to do something for yourself, kid-free, without having to figure out the whole babysitter situation. And if you’re a SAHM, you know the struggle of finding someone available during “normal business hours.” That’s why I am SO grateful to belong to Lifetime Fitness. It allows me two hours to myself to sit in the cafe and work, swim, steam, workout, take a class, get my hair or nails done, and even shower in peace (which we all know is a luxury).

In full transparency, it took my kiddo (toddler) some time to get used to being dropped off at the Kid’s Academy (the play area), and my little buddy is still struggling with the separation. But the staff couldn’t be nicer, and they will do whatever they can to make them feel comfortable. If they’re not able to do that in a decent amount of time, they will give you a call to come get them, which I appreciate, because no one wants their baby sad!

My adult membership includes access to the indoor/outdoor pool, the gym loaded with every machine and free weight you can think of, and group classes ranging from intense cardio to relaxing yoga. The locker rooms are clean, big, have showers, razors, makeup removing wipes, cotton balls, and q-tips, and have a steam room and sauna. The cafe is CLUTCH. I like to eat, and I like my protein shakes. From tasty meals to drinks and snacks (all healthy, with kid options) you know you’re nourishing your body with the best. It also serves as a fantastic place to get a little work done!

While I do me, my kids have endless activities to enjoy! Babies can start going at three months and require a reservation until they turn one to ensure the baby to caregiver ratio stays manageable. Now, that part for me was a pain only because naps were all over the place. But once they turn 1, you can drop them off whenever they’re open, no reservation required, which has been such a game-changer.

They offer kid’s craft time, sports classes, yoga, tumbling, dance, free play – you name it, they have it! Lifetime also recently added some mommy & me classes for toddlers, which has been so much fun to do with my son. There is a 45-minute music and movement class and a 45-minute tumbling class. Both classes are in a completely padded room, and you can show up anytime within that 45-minute timeframe – so no fee for skipping or arriving late! Woohoo! It’s a small group and a great way to get your toddler’s wiggles out, socialize, give mommy a chance to play without thinking, and to meet other moms.

There are so many other amenities that I didn’t touch on, but we love Lifetime and it’s absolutely worth it for us to belong!
