Living Well Locally: Introducing The Scout Guide St. Louis!

I love Google. It has the answers to everything you need in seconds. But, often times finding the best option in your own backyard is hard to find. Enter, The Scout Guide!

“The Scout Guide (TSG) is a publication dedicated to living beautifully, living well, and living like an insider—wherever you are. We connect you with inspiration, as well as with makers and experts who can help you enhance your life, elevate your surroundings, and enjoy your community to the fullest.”

Owner and Editor Stacey Goltermann

This guide is a carefully curated collection of small businesses – not chains- in our area that help you live your best life! More than 60 cities nationwide boast their own city’s version of the Scout Guide and are all published on an annual basis.

My first impression of the guide is that it is beautiful. The high quality of the paper and graphics set the tone for the very polished advertisements that are included in the guide. I also love the fact that the guide features the faces and people behind each of the businesses featured. While some may think that it would allow you to pass judgement, it actually provides a personal connection to each business that makes you want to seek out their service.

I know that I’ve been in the position where I am looking for a unique gift, wanting a smaller more personalized experience or visiting a highly-reviewed establishment and don’t know where to go to find it. The Scout Guide has done that legwork for us in the St. Louis area and other cities where it is published.

Owner and Editor Stacey Goltermann (pictured right) has taken on this labor of love and enjoyed every minute of it. She is quick to emphasize the Scout Guide’s support of their featured businesses goes beyond the printed publication – they provide support to these local businesses on social media all year long!

In addition to the physical printed guide, The Scout Guide website is equally beautiful as informative. It has a wealth of information and insider features on home design, fashion and travel, etc. It is certainly a place I will reference for new, innovative ideas to improve my life as a conscious consumer.

As we gear up for the holiday season of parties, traveling, and gifting, consider using The Scout Guide Saint Louis to access some of our best small, local businesses to help you along the way!

Jennedy grew up in West County, attended Mizzou and now works as a full-time School Counselor. At home, her life moves along at quick pace to a lovely soundtrack of music provided by her husband, Kyle, who is a classical musician and two young sons. When time allows, Jennedy loves a project- whether it be tiling a bathroom, decorating, gardening, meal planning, learning to sew or finding new and efficient ways to manage her household. Jennedy is hoping to figure out the magic formula of work, life and self-care balance. She’ll be sure to write about it right here when she does.
